USS ARKANSAS HISTORY DISCUSSED AT SOCIETY PROGRAM
Ray Hanley, author (with his late brother) of a recent book on the USS Arkansas gave a Powerpoint presentation to the SAHPS on Thursday October 8, 2015 at the Newton House Museum. He discussed the 30+ year service of this famous battleship and its part in the Vera Cruz Incident, World War One and World War Two. In World War Two the Arkansas bombarded Normandy, Iwo Jima, and Okinowa. It ended its service to the nation as a subject of the Bikini Atoll nuclear tests after World War Two.
