On May 12th Arkansas' state archaeologist Ann Early spoke to the Preservation Society about post-1980 research into the De Soto Expedition. The talk was very interesting and attracted an attentive crowd that asked many questions. The presentation noted that past research had produced several maps with possible routes taken by De Soto west of the Mississippi River. In the lecture Dr. Early noted that current theories do not have De Soto marching through South-Central Arkansas. Our thanks to Dr. Early for once again making the journey to southern Arkansas to speak to our society.
