Over 20 students from Barton Jr. High participated in a Walking Tour of Downtown El Dorado on Oct. 22, 2015. The purpose of this educational program was to introduce local students to some of the more interesting aspects of El Dorado's architecture and to provide them with insight into the workings of the judicial branch of the government. The First Financial Bank Building (Lion Oil), First Baptist Church, Union County Courthouse, and the Federal Courthouse were all part of the itinerary. Our thanks to Judge Robin Carroll, Judge Susan Hickey, First Financial Bank, and First Baptist Church for their assistance with this program. Attorney John Thomas Shepherd helped to lead the tour. For some additional information on the architecture of downtown El Dorado feel free to consult the related article by Mr. Shepherd in the Fall 2014 issue of The Insider's Guide magazine.
