RIP John B. Abbott

John B. Abbott, 99, of El Dorado, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012.  He was born May 16, 1912, to Thomas Christopher and Mina Miller Abbott of El Dorado. 

John attended the University of Illinois and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.  He worked for Lion Oil several years before starting his own architectural firm in 1936, which is still in business today as CADM.  He was of the Methodist faith.  He remained active in the El Dorado Kiwanis and the South Arkansas Historical Foundation until his death.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Young's Chapel with Mary Swan Hilliard officiating.

The entire board and staff of the SAHF would like to extend our condolences to the Abbott family.  Mr. Abbott was a true gentleman and a powerful advocate for historic preservation in South Arkansas.  He will be missed.
